How to choose the mowing line
Tough watch
This category includes very tough and large weeds.
In dry periods they may tend to lignify.
Hedges, grass or lawns with long grass blades and margins.
They are a difficult materail to cut because of the large plant mass choking the mower head.
In order for your chain saw to be able to cut them successfully in the shortest time possible, it is recommended to use a large diameter wire.
But, as the thickness of the wire increases, the diameter of the mower head must be larger.
The loop that the wire is wound on during winding should be loose, not tight to avoid the coils sticking together.
In contact with grass, because the mower head is made of plastic, say, at high speeds it generates heat.
It should be kept in mind that gearheads generally operate at speeds between 7,500-9,500 rpm.
Because of the excess heat, if you wind the wire very tightly, the coils will stick together.
This will prevent the wire from being released easily in the case of self-feeding mowers.
It can have a value from 2.4 to 3.5 millimetres (3.0 mmx240 m).
Regularly maintained vegetation
This category includes vegetation that you just want to maintain and take care of constantly.
Areas of grass that have been grown for at least two weeks, as well as small and medium-sized weeds, can be considered part of the average vegetation.
Or the larger but reasonably sized and thick vegetation around trees and plants.
It remains untouched by working with lawnmowers or tractors.
To manage them effectively, you need a chain saw wire that is not as tough as the one needed for hard vegetation, but you still need one with a minimum diameter of 2 mm.
The diameter value can be up to 2 – 2.4 mm.
One large enough to cope with contact with surfaces such as concrete paving or masonry in general.
Light vegetation
For any mower, light loads can be considered to be those vegetation elements that are cut exclusively for the purpose of maintaining their appearance.
For example, if you want to use a lawnmower or trimmer to constantly mow the lawn or garden, then you need a light duty cord.
These wires have a small diameter of 1.2 – 1.6 mm.
Identify the type of vegetation you want to trim with your tool (mower or trimmer).
Also consider the time of day you mow.
In the early hours of the day the grass has high humidity, which makes it more elastic and easier to “lie down”.
Do not push the cutter head into the material to be cut, maintain a distance that allows the wire to properly engage the cut.
The closer you get to the grass, the more the wire, which due to the centrifugal speed should stay straight, gets wrapped around the mower head.
Maximum effects are achieved by “whipping” the peeling thread.
The tighter the string stays around the mower head, the more it rubs against the grass but does not cut.
It can be seen when the thread is woven at an angle over a long length.
This leads to high thread consumption, which breaks repeatedly.
